It's 28 different sports not 38!
It's quite obvious isn't it? It's quite clearly a mentality error to type out something that is 38...
Sports like Cycling Moutain Bike, Cycling BMX, Cycling Road and Cycling Track belong to the same kind of sport, that is Clycling, not categorised under different sports....

What i have is official, given by International Olympian Committee (IOC).

What is the "True" Gold Medal count?
Granted China won the most individual Gold Medals. However if a TRUE medal count was done to include medals awarded to each "Team member", what would the count be then? Perhaps an event should be valued by the number of medals that can be won by the total amount of people on the team.
