Anandji is an Indian music director and composer. He was born to Virji Shah in 1933 in Kutch, Gujarat. His father was the owner of a provision store. His elder brother Kalyanji was also a music director and composer.
Both the brothers were popularly known as Kalyanji-Anandji and were the music directing duo for numerous Bollywood films. The duo has composed music for various Hindi films including Satta Bazaar (1959), Madari (1959), Chalia (1961), Himalay Ki God Mein (1965), Zanjeer (1973), Blackmail (1973), Don (1978), Muqaddar Ka Sikander (1978), Qurbani (1980), Jaanbaaz (1986) Tridev (1989) etc. Their last film was Ulfat ki Nayi Manzilein (1994). The duo had won several awards. They won their first Filmfare Best Music Director Award in 1975 for the film Kora Kagaz. Kalyanji-Anandji were given the Padma Shri award in 1992.
His elder brother Kalyanji died on August 24, 2000.
