Pritam Chakraborty, popularly known as Pritam, is a Bollywood music director and a composer. He was born in Kolkata. His father Prabodh Chakraborty runs a music school for children. Voice of India Mummy Ke Superstars April 30, 2009 Voice of India Mummy Ke Superstars was a singing reality show run by the Indian television channel Star Plus. Produced by SOL, the show started on April 4, 2009 and was aired every Saturday and Sunday at 9:00 pm. P. Bhavini and P. His musical career started after he joined Chandrabindoo, a Bangla band. Later, he formed his own band called Jotugriher Pakhi with his College friends. He joined the Film and Television Institute in Pune to undertake a course in sound recording and sound engineering in January 1993. He used to learn African music from musicologist Kedar Avati.   Pritam moved to Mumbai to pursue a career in Bollywood. He started as a jingle composer. He got his first break with the film Tere Liye (2000) in which he composed music along with music composer Jeet. Though the music was good, the film sank at the box office. He and Jeet were signed by Bollywood director Sanjay Gadhvi to compose music for his Hindi film Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai (2003). The duo composed outstanding music and became popular. The duo had worked together last time in the Hindi film Mudda (2003) after which they parted and worked independently.   Pritam as a solo musician had composed music for Hindi films such as Fun2shh (2003), Raghu Romeo (2003), Stumped (2003), Agnipankh (2004) etc. He got his major breakthrough in the Hindi film Dhoom (2004). His music in Dhoom topped the charts. The song Dhoom Machale, sung in Hindi by Sunidhi Chauhan and in English by Tata Young, a Thai - American singer and model was a big hit for which he won the 2004 MTV Immies Best Music Composer Award.   Pritam has composed music for various Bollywood films such as Chehraa (2005), Chocolate (2005), Garam Masala (2005), Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena (2005), Fight Club (2006), Gangster (2006), Ankahee (2006), Pyaar Ke Side Effects (2006), Naksha (2006), Apna Sapna Money Money (2006), Woh Lamhe (2006), Bas Ek Pal (2006), Dhoom 2 (2006), Bhagaam Bhaag (2006), Just Married (2007), Hattrick (2007), Life In A... Metro (2007), Dhol (2007), Awarapan (2007), Raqeeb (2007), Naqaab (2007), Bhool Bhulaiya (2007), Jab We Met (2007) etc.   Pritam has formed a band named Metro with whom he composed the music for the Hindi film Life In A... Metro (2007). The four member band includes Pritam, Suhail Kaul, Soham Chakraborty and Faruk Mahfuz Anam (James). He was one of the judges of the show Star Voice of India Chhote Ustaad on Star Plus channel. He is one of the judges of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2009, a singing competition on Zee TV channel.
