Shreya Ghoshal is an Indian playback singer. She was born on March 12, 1984. Her father is a nuclear power plant engineer and works in Bhabha Atomic Research Center (BARC) for the Nuclear Power Corporation of India. Her mother is a post-graduate in Literature.

Voice of India Mummy Ke Superstars

Voice of India Mummy Ke Superstars was a singing reality show run by the Indian television channel Star Plus. Produced by SOL, the show started on April 4, 2009 and was aired every Saturday and Sunday at 9:00 pm.

P. Bhavini and P. Kalpana were declared the winner of Voice of India Mummy Ke Superstars on June 27, 2009. Shivish Soni and Beenashaw Soni and Soham Naik and Aagnya Naik were finalists.

Shreya started learning harmonium at the age of four. She was trained in Indian classical music by Shri Maheshchandra Sharma in Kota, Rajasthan. She had won the children special episode of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa contest on Zee TV. Kalyanji, a well-known Indian music director saw her performance and convinced her parents to move to Mumbai. She was trained by him for one and half years. Later, she continued her training in classical music with Shrimati Mukta Bhide.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali, a well-known Hindi film director noticed her when she participated in Sa Re Ga Ma Pa for the second time. She made her debut and sang for his film Devdas (2002) with popular Indian playback singers such as Kavita Krishnamurthy, Kay Kay, Udit Narayan, Vinod Rathod, Jaspinder Narula etc. She has sung five songs in the film.

Shreya has sung for various music directors like M.M. Kreem, Anu Malik, A. R. Rehman, Ilaiyaraaja, Shankar Ehsaan Loy, Pritam etc. She has sung in various Hindi films such as Inteha (2003), Jism (2003), Armaan (2003), Saaya (2003), Out of Control (2003), LOC: Kargil (2003), Munnabhai M.B.B.S. • 2002 National Award for the Best Female Playback Singer for the Hindi film Devdas (2002).
• 2002 Filmfare Best Female Playback Singer Award for the song “Dola Re” from the Hindi film Devdas (2002).
• 2003 Filmfare Best Female Playback Singer Award for the song “Jaadu Hai Nasha Hai” from the Hindi film Jism (2003).
• 2006 Zee Cine Best Female Playback Singer Award for the song “Piyu Bole” from the Hindi film Parineeta (2005).
• 2006 National Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer for the Hindi film Paheli (2005).
• 2007 Filmfare Best Female Playback Singer Award (South) for the Tamil film Sillunu Oru Kaadhal (2006).
• 2007 Tamil Nadu State Award for the Tamil film Sillunu Oru Kaadhal (2006).
