CNBC-TV 18 is an Indian business news channel. It is a joint venture of Consumer News and Business Channel (CNBC), a U.S news channel and Television Eighteen India Limited (TV18). CNRC-TV 18 started the India Business Leader Awards (IBLA) to recognize CEOs and business leaders who create and sustain entrepreneurial initiatives, develop best practices and carve out powerful businesses in the global economy. The first India Business Leader Awards ceremony was held in 2005. It has given prominence and recognition to leaders who have made a difference. The 2007 CNBC-TV18 India Business Leader Awards ceremony was held on December 07, 2007 in Mumbai. It was the third edition of India Business Leader Awards where the winners were felicitated. The award categories for IBLA 2007 were The CNBC-TV18 Outstanding Business Leader of the Year. The CNBC-TV18 Indian Businesswoman of the Year. The First Generation Entrepreneur of the Year. The Indian Global Achiever Award. Lifetime Achievement Award. Social Enterprise of the Year. Most Outstanding Contribution to the Cause of Indian Business. Most Promising Entrant into the Big League. The India Business Leader of the Year. India Innovator of the Year. The India Corporate Citizen of the Year. The Talent Management Award. The judging process was based on a combination of criteria such as financial performance, leadership, creativity, innovation and social responsibility. The nominees were evaluated based on their ability to create short-term advantage, long-term value, a competitive edge and the demonstration of leadership in the business community. The business leaders were judged by a jury comprising of management strategists and academics and corporate personalities. The jury members were as follows: K. V. Kamath – Managing Director and CEO, ICICI Bank. Kumaramangalam Birla – Chairman, AV Birla Group. Kishore Biyani – Managing Director, Pantaloon Retail (India) Limited. Uday Kotak - Vice-Chairman and Managing Director, Kotak Mahindra Bank. Dr. Kallam Anji Reddy - Founder of Dr Reddy's Labs. Professor Mark E. Zmijewski - Dean of Asia Campus, University of Chicago GSB. Professor William W. Kooser - Associate Dean for Part-time MBA programmes, University of Chicago GSB. Dr. Rich Wellins - Senior Vice President Development Dimensions International (DDI). R. Seshasayee - Managing Director, Ashok Leyland Limited. The nominees for the 2007 Outstanding Company of the Year award were:   Bharti Airtel ICICI Bank Infosys Technologies Sterlite Industries Reliance Industries Grasim Industries Bank of India Bharti Airtel, the Indian mobile phone and fixed network operator won the Outstanding Company of the Year award. The nominees for the 2007 Outstanding Business Leader of the Year award were:   Ratan Tata - Chairman, Tata Group. Mukesh Ambani - Chairman, Reliance Industries. Kumarmangalam Birla - Chairman, Aditya Birla Group. Vijay Mallya - Chairman, UB Group. Y. C. Deveshwar - Chairman, ITC. K. P. Singh - Chairman, DLF. Mukesh Ambani, the Chairman of Reliance Industries won the Outstanding Business Leader of the Year award at the 2007 India Business Leader Award ceremony.
