Miss India South 2008 is a beauty pageant which is held in South of India.
It is organized by Femina, a women’s magazine. It gives opportunity to girls
from South of India to come to a platform of character, style and
personality and turn their dreams into reality.

Femina Miss India is an annual, national beauty
pageant held in India. It is organized by Femina, a women’s magazine and
Pantaloons, a multi format retailer in India. In the year 2009, twenty
contestants were selected after regional rounds. The Grand Finale of
Femina Miss India 2009 was held in
Mumbai on April 5, 2009.

Applications and nominations for the contest were invited from eligible
participants (those between 18 and 23 years of age and born or residing in
Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala or Tamil Nadu). 16 Finalists were selected
in a semi-final round on December 04, 2007 in Hyderabad.
The 2008 Femina Miss India South, sponsored by Pantaloons, was held on
December 26, 2007 in Hyderabad. The panel of judges consisted of
Ramya Krishna,
Deepika
Govind,
Mani Shankar,
Nethra
Raghuraman,
Ravi Teja,
Pinky Reddy
and Sanjiv
Gupta.
Parvathy Omanakuttam was crowned with the 2008 Femina Miss India South
title. She got a direct entry into the top ten finalists of the Femina
Miss India 2008. Shreya Dhanwanthary was the first runner-up and
Kavya Barli
was the second runner-up. They got direct entry to the finals of the Femina Miss India 2008
which was held in Mumbai.

Kudos to the organisers and her confidence and poise. Her answers were brief and to the point. So it clearly shows that to emerge a winner you need a mix of both beauty and brawns. The general question in the final round was “The rate of divorce in India is on a rise. What is the cause? Is western influence the cause or something else?”
I liked Parvathy's answer : Divorces are not a result of western influence. At the end of the day, it is we who decide whose worth us. Marriage is not when one completes the other but is when both share their completeness.
And in the previous round she replied saying that the best gift a woman can give to a man is a child with all her love, compassion and patience.
