 Monty
Sharma is an Indian music director. He is the nephew of of well-known Indian
music composer Pyarelal.
Monty started learning music at the age of 5. His grandfather Pandit
Ramprasad Sharma was his main guru.
Monty started his career with well-known Indian music director
Ismail
Darbar. He used to work with him as a keyboard player. He helped
him composing the music of the Hindi films Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999) and
Devdas (2002). Later, he composed the background music for the Hindi film
Black (2005). The film earned him the 2006 Filmfare Best Background Score
award. His music in the Hindi film
Saawariya (2007) established him as a
successful music composer and made him popular among the public.
Monty has won following awards and honors:
• 2006 Star Screen Best Background Score Award for the Hindi film Black
(2005).
• 2006 IIFA Best Background Score Award for the Hindi film Black (2005).
• 2006 Zee Cine Best Background Music Award for the Hindi film Black (2005).
• 2007 Filmfare R. D. Burman Award for New Music Talent for the Hindi film
Saawariya (2007).
• 2008 Set Max Stardust Award for Music for the Hindi film
Saawariya (2007).
He is one of the judges of the show

I watch him as judge of VOI, he is superb in his comments. He always gives positive vibes to the contestants and encourages them unlike other judges on the show.
