Amit Paul is from Shillong, Meghalaya. He is 24 years old and lives with his mother Jaya, father Deepak Paul and younger sister Meenakshi.
Music is his life and he cares for music more than his studies. He quit his studies to pursue music. He wants to become a play back singer. He thinks that the dreamers are the big achievers. He has a very good command over many languages and can sing in six languages. He also plays guitar well.
Earlier in the
Indian Idol 3 show, Amit Paul was voted out but he came back through a wild card entry. According to the judges, Amit Paul has a perfect voice that everybody loves to listen. Some of the songs that he sang in the
Indian Idol 3 were Main Hoon Jhoom Jhoom, Yeh Dosti,
In Dino, Aao Twist Kare, Aaj Kal Tere Mere Pyar Ke,
Do You Want a Partner, Na Jane Koi Kaise Hai Yeh Zindagi, Phoolen Ke Rang Se, Dil Lena Khel Hai, Chal Chale and many others. He is a hardworking boy and honest to his profession. He was the first runner up of
Indian Idol Season 3.
He also participated in
K for Kishore,
a music competition on Sony Entertainment Television channel as a
challenger. He was eliminated on April 12, 2008. |

He has the greatest talent amongst all the singers. When the results were announced, we felt disappointed, but in our hearts we knew by talent he is the winner.
When he came down to South Africa, I had the opportunity to dance in his show and even meet him personally, I am so overwhelmed. Now I am 16 years old and I am having my 16th birthday party and I would like to invite him down here for my Birthday and I will pay his expenses for him. Please let me know if this is possible.

I am a die hard fan of yours from the time u came back in Indian Idol. Ur tribute to Kishore Kumar by participating in the show was worth it, but the comments the judges made on you were useless. Pl dont be sad. U r and will be a very good singer for the rest of your life.Even after going through an illness you still came back and performed .Rather than praising you the judges had nothing else to say other than insulting you. You are not meant for such kind of shows where judges dont even know how to encourage participants. I have a strong believe that ur future lies in Boolywood where you would be singing GR8 songs for actors.I respect you and ur voice ,so please dont let those stds go in waste.GOD BLESS YOU !!!!!!!!!!

India Fest is a program sponsored by NavYug, a non-profit organization with a mission to promote awareness of Indian Cultural Arts. Since 2003 they have been hosting India Fest - Your Gateway to India (Details Here) showcasing multi-lingual, rich and diverse cultural arts from the region. Amit Paul and a Bombay band were the star attractions of this year's event.
Due to bad weather conditions, Amit's flight to Raleigh was delayed and he was not able to perform with the band on Saturday, March 8, as scheduled. However, on his arrival after an arduous fourteen hour wait at JFK, NY airport, Amit Paul was in high spirits and said he was ready to entertain Raleigh! (For more details Click here)
True to his word, on Sunday, March 9th, he gave a brilliant performance making the whole community there dance to his tunes. According to one of the eyewitnesses who also happens to be an India-Forum's member, he supposedly had the crowd completely mesmerized with his performance. Not only that, he went an extra length and took many requests and at times even sang without any music. The crowd stood in lines to get his autograph and shake his hand. He had them all hypnotized. The organizers were very happy with the success of the show. Amit really wowed the audience of Raleigh and treated them to a feast which they will remember for a while.
While the Raleigh crowd was left totally satiated, there has been some disappointment back home as he hasn't been seen on the show for over two weeks, K for Kishore where he is a participant. He is supposed to be recuperating from a severe throat ailment, a condition which made his doctors advise him complete bed rest.
While Raleigh enjoyed the melody of his voice, K for Kishore hasn't been able to hear his voice for the last two weeks in a row. Is there a connection somewhere? We leave that for the readers to make a guess!!!

u r already a big star. u rocked in the 3rd Indian Idol!! then why r u again trying for this competition. though Prashant Tamang is the officially declared winner but we always prefered u & for us u r the real winner. u r one of those contestant for whom north east india came into the focus of the people of rest part of India. u r hvng a good personality, way of singing, performance style, x-factor(!!) (as farah khan says).
i dont like to watch this show regularly and it was not known to me that u r here in this contest. it's through this website only i came to know about ur participation in this show.

i pray for a speedy recovery for you and god willing you get back into the show. The only reason i have even bought this channel and watch k for kishore is to hear you sing.
when u do come back please sing your song (u did great in indian idol) but decline from having the dancers behind u as their presence takes the concentration or attention from u as a singer and it looks like they are there to cover up weakness.
