i wondere if you remember our few brief meetings at meerut where your husband was posted as DM. your recent performances on small screen including 'DD Bharti' amply prove, how good and how fond you of UP folk songs.
i too belong to UP but without being parochial in my approach, i do have a strong feeling that folk music/songs of UP are no less (in not better) than any other type of folk music/songs including punjabi. it is only a matter of awareness and efforts to be put in to bring it to the the place it deserves. i am sure a person like you can be a big catalyst in promoting folk music/songs of UP. i

And it bleed my heart that, to know that only I could hear her anguish and pain from the other side , as Malini did mentioned each and every one (She had already mentioned Late Rahat Sahab and Smt Girija Devi's earlier)and when I did spoke to her there was so much pain and anger in of her feelings as majority of her tribute to her Guru's which she spoke on the show , laid on editing table..And due to TV format some thing do get edited and the same happened here too and she made my day as she been the burning torch to us all how to remember and how to do for their Gurus.Shallu hats of to you . I have been following the show since the first episode and if i am not wrong,in the "first episode" she mentioned and thanked her Mother,her parents,her first gurus.Then in the "second episode" we saw her expressing, her heartiest gratitude towards late Ustad Rahat Khan sahab .Infact she again fondly remembered khan sahab in the "last episode" where she sang a thumri taught by him..along with her GuruBhai daler mehndi..
And most of all she has been mentioning end no. of times on the show that she owes her taleem to the very respected Smt. Girija Devi Ji...
Finally talking of Today's format,the contestants had to sing a song which had been already sung by the "mentors" of that respective genre in the Show.who happens to be Ila Arun.
And if at all there is any objection,it should be raised to the "3 and a half min" time slot in which the artist has to perform and to the Subsequent editing by the "Show" which follows.
Most of all if you really seem to know her(as you claim) ,you should know that she has been one artist who has been more than humble in having been grateful and been "Mentioning" all her gurus in since the very first episode! | |

You are damn good but I am registering one thing here that you must come out why the hell at the Gurupornima day not one name of yours Guru was mentioned at all? And I will never buy out that you forget them as it was obvious that Illa Arun got no business to be yours Guru as she isnt all.I have came from the same Womb which you came , you are the same who use to take Allap at harmonium and I use to sit with Guru of yours all and I some time use to in my own horse voice try and do sing the Bandish and gazzals along those Immortal souls. I am hurt that none of the Guru who right from yours Mother and yours father who despite no education of music and no Sur knew you have one and been all ways got th ebest for you. Srivastav jee from Mirjapur whom I visited 7 years ago and I can never forget the tears in his eyes when I mentioned yours name. Late Sujat Hussain Sahab from Rampur Gharana who with tea take a fag of Panama Filter Cigrate and first introduce me to Gazal gayaki. Late Rahat Ali Khan Shab who was legend in his own time and vry moody and very Fakir in real sense, who never bothered for one brief moment about fame or money. He was a free bird, many became famous and immortalized Hindi films songs on its composition.Dilar, which later best known as Dilar Mehndi I met first time there and I still have that moment captured in my mind when he was a kid all in white and Rahat Sahab was lying on his bed and he was sitting on the ground towards in his feets. I was introduced to him and, he use to call me Anil Kapoor. And I always find mist in my eyes when ever I hear Dilar Mehndi mentioning Rahat sahab , as I have seen him learning from him by just Listening Him. Mrs Kamala Srivastava , who realy thrown you to at big arena and always made you a fighter of you. And last the least Girija Devi jee whom I first saw when you were very tender and it was Navratra and my parents took me to Vindhaya Vasni Devi and listened her. You did mentioned about her here in this show and I was taken aback that even she wasnt mentioned!! Here one person I would like to mention who wasn't a singer but deeply influenced you with his fakkad style and his magnatism of capturing the soul, Late Kishan Mahraj. Some where the commercialization and the need to be a smart Jack ass, has bungled to night.Why you forgt them, which I dont believe it, so why the hell those who dont bloody know the meaning of Guru Purnima in their own ego trip black out it.
