Mukesh Ambani is the chairman, managing director and the largest shareholder of Reliance Industries, a private sector enterprise in India. He was born on April 19, 1957 in Aden, Yemen. He is the elder son of Dhirubhai Ambani, the late founder of Reliance Industries. His mother is Kokilaben Ambani. His younger brother Anil Ambani heads other companies in the Reliance Group. Mukesh holds a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering from the University of Mumbai, Department of Chemical Technology. He began the MBA program at Stanford Business School, but dropped out after his first year. Mukesh joined the Reliance Industries in 1981. He directed and led the creation of the petroleum refinery at Jamnagar, Gujarat. He was responsible for the establishment of Reliance Infocomm which is now under his brother’s group – Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group (ADAG) after the split between the brothers. He also started the chain of ‘Reliance Fresh’ retail stores across the country. He is married to Nita Ambani and has 3 children - Akash, Isha and Anant. He was one of the nominees of NDTV Indian of The Year 2007 and was declared the winner on January 17, 2008. Mukesh is the owner of the Indian Premier League team Mumbai Indians.
