J.
K. Rowling is a British writer and author of the well-known fantasy series
called Harry Potter. She was born on July 31, 1965 to Anne and Peter James
Rowling. She has a younger sister called Dianne.
Rowling completed her schooling from the St Michael's Primary School in
Bristol, England and the Wyedean School in Sedbury, Gloucestershire. She
graduated from the University of Exeter in England.
She has authored the following books:
• Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (Published June 26, 1997).
• Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (Published July 02, 1998).
• Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (Published July 08, 1999)
• Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (Published July 08, 2000)
• Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (Published June 21, 2003)
• Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (Published July 16, 2005)
• Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Published July 21, 2007)
• Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (Published 2001)
• Quidditch Through the Ages (Published 2001)
Rowling married Portuguese television journalist Jorge Arantes on October
16, 1992. They have a daughter, Jessica. The couple got separated in
November 1993. Later, she married Neil Michael Murray, an anesthetist on
December 26, 2001. They have 2 children, son David and daughter Mackenzie.
Rowling is also a philanthropist. She established the Volant Charitable
Trust to aid women and children and to combat poverty and social inequality
in 2000.
Rowling was named the Author of The Year in the 2000 British Book Awards. |
