Aamir Khan is an Indian film actor, a director and a producer. He was born on March 14, 1965 to Tahir and Zeena Hussain Khan. He has a younger brother Faizal and two sisters, Nikhat and Farhad.   Aamir completed his schooling from St. Anne School and Bombay Scottish School in Mumbai. He graduated from the Narsee Monjee (N. M) College, also in Mumbai. Aamir started his Bollywood career as a child artist in the Hindi films such as Yaadon Ki Baaraat (1973) and Hum Kisi Se Kum Nahin (1977). He had also acted in the film Holi (1984). Later, he served as an assistant to his uncle Nasir Hussain, an Indian film director and producer. He had assisted him in films like Manzil Manzil (1984) and Zabardast (1985). He got the first break as a lead actor in the Hindi film Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak(1988) for which he won the 1989 Filmfare Best Male Debut Award and the 1989 National Film award. Aamir has acted in several Hindi films such as Love Love Love (1989), Deewana Mujh Sa Nahin (1990), Awwal Number (1990), Dil (1990), Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahin (1991), Afsana Pyar Ka (1991), Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar (1992), Parampara (1993), Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke (1993), Andaz Apna Apna (1994), Akele Hum Akele Tum (1995), Baazi (1995), Aatank Hi Aatank (1995), Rangeela (1995), Raja Hindustani (1996), Ishq (1997), Ghulam (1998), Earth (1998), Sarfarosh (1999), Mann (1999), Mela (2000), Lagaan (2001), Dil Chahta Hai (2001) etc. After a four year break from acting, Aamir made his comeback with the film Mangal Pandey: The Rising (2005). His next releases Rang De Basanti (2006) and Fanaa (2006), were big hits at the box office. Aamir is also a producer and a writer. He had produced the Hindi film Lagaan (2001) and was the screenplay writer of the film Hum Hain Rahi Pyaar Ke (1993). His first release in 2007 was the Hindi film Taare Zameen Par which was also produced and directed by him. He has also sung in various Hindi films such as Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak (1988), Hum Hain Rahi Pyaar Ke (1993), Ghulam (1998), Mann (1999) and Rang De Basanti (2006). Aamir has won the Filmfare Best Actor award 2 times – in 1996 for the film Raja Hindustani (1996) and second in 2002 for the film Lagaan (2001). He also won the 2002 International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Best Actor award for the film Lagaan (2001) and the 2006 Filmfare Best Actor (Critics) Award for the Hindi film Rang De Basanti (2006). He was awarded with the Padma Shri award by the Government of India in 2003. He won his first Filmfare Best Director Award on February 23, 2008 for the Hindi film Taare Zameen Par. Aamir was first married to Reena Dutt and had two children, son Junaid and daughter Aira. The couple got separated in 2002. He married Kiran Rao on December 28, 2005. The couple had met on the sets of the film Lagaan (2001). Kiran was an assistant to well-known director Ashutosh Gowariker. Aamir was honored with the Zee Cine Best Director Award on April 26, 2008.
