Rani
Mukharjee is an Indian film actress. She was born on March 21, 1978 in
Kolkata. Her father Ram Mukharjee is a retired director and one of the
founders of Filmalaya Studios. Her mother Krishna is a well-known playback
singer. Her brother Raja Mukharjee is a film producer and a director.
Rani started her acting career with the Hindi
film Biyar Phool (1992) at the age of fourteen. She made her debut in
Bollywood with the film Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat (1997). The film was
unsuccessful at the box office and she returned to college to complete her
education.
Rani cameback in 1998 with the film Ghulam which
was a big success at the box office. Later, she acted in the film Kuch Kuch
Hota Hai (1998) for which she won her first Filmfare Award in the Best
Supporting Actress category. Since then she has acted in several Hindi films
such as Mehndi (1998), Mann (1999), Hello Brother (1999), Badal (2000), Hey
Ram (2000), Hadh Kar Di Aapne (2000), Bichhoo (2000), Har Dil Jo Pyar Karega
